Two Major Airlines to Provide Year Round Service to Grenada
Two international airlines have given the assurance that they will be operating non stop flights to Grenada during the coming year.
As of December 2006, Excel Airways will be operating a non stop flight between Grenada and the United Kingdom while Condor Airlines of Germany will commence its year round service in November.
“Excel will operate a direct, once per week flight from London to Grenada from December 2006 to December 2007, while maintaining the present joint flight with Tobago,” said Grenadian Tourism Minister Brenda Hood in an address to mark World Tourism Day, which was observed on Wednesday, while pointing that Condor’s service will commence in November 2006 and end in November 2007.
Minister Hood said that besides the airlines, the island nation’s Ministry of Tourism and the Board of Tourism are currently holding discussions with several tourism investors who have demonstrated interest in certain projects that can boost the tourism industry.
“As these efforts to bring more accommodation and airlift to Grenada continue, we must understand that we all have a critical role to ply in ensuring that every visitor that comes to Grenada leaves the destination satisfied and that he or she was treated with respect, got value for money, felt safe and secure and above all was made to feel welcomed,” Minister Hood said.
