United said it will begin daily nonstop service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong on 747 aircraft and add seasonal nonstop service between Washington (Dulles) and Rio de Janeiro on 767 aircraft in October.
Both routes went on sale May 3.

United said the Los Angeles-Hong Kong route and accompanying direct service to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will expand the breadth of its service to Asia, and it noted Los Angeles is home to the largest Vietnamese population in the U.S.

United said its new Rio service will “strengthen Washington Dulles as our East Coast international gateway,” with Rio becoming the 22nd international destination served nonstop from the airport.
