Uniworld Offers Douro River Cruises in Portugal

Uniworld will operate cruises on the Douro River in Portugal. The seven-night cruise on the Douro Queen includes wine, beer, and soft drinks served during dinner, excursions led by English-speaking guides, and all transfers on arrival and departure days. Uniworld offers savings of $600 per couple when paid in full by Dec. 31.

The river cruise package is priced from $2,099 per person with three nights in Lisbon and $1,699 not including Lisbon; air is not included. National Geographic Traveler recently released its sixth annual “World’s Great Places: 133 Destinations” survey, and the Douro Valley rated seventh. In 2001, UNESCO rated the Douro River Valley as a World Heritage Site.

The cruise includes wine and port tastings from village vineyards, a traditional meal at the Alpendurada Monastery, an authentic Spanish-style lunch with a flamenco show, and dinner at the Vintage House Hotel, an 18th-century wine quinta overlooking the Douro River.
