Venezuelan Airline Asks DOT for Permission to Serve Miami
The Venezuelan airline Avior is seeking Transportation Department permission to begin service between Valencia, Venezuela, and Miami as soon as May 1. Avior’s request probably won’t go anywhere until American gets Venezuelan approval for its own proposed service on the same route.
American had already received DOT approval for its proposed Miami-Valencia service December 6, and in March, told the DOT it believed that approval from the Venezuelan authorities was “imminent.” That approval is yet to come, however.
