Visits by Dominican Tourists Continues to Slide, Quisqueya Foundation Warns
The number of Dominicans abroad who visited their country as tourists from January to August fell 5.7 percent, said the non-government organization Quisqueya Foundation.
Quoting the Dominican Central Bank’s monthly tourism industry statistics, the economists Frank Valenzuela and Hector Frias, the entity’s president and chief executive, said 365,261 Dominicans living abroad visited the country as tourists during those months.
They said the figure is lower than the 387,463 Dominicans who visited the country during the same period the year before, and especially the 412,965 who came in the same 2006 period.
