The Trump administration is banning Chinese passenger airlines from flying scheduled service to the U.S. starting later this month.
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines is offering what it describes as the “most generous buyout package in our history” in an effort to avoid layoffs or furloughs this fall.
In a statement Monday, the German carrier quoted Lufthansa Chairman Karl-Ludwig Kley saying it had been “a very difficult decision.”
Three major US airlines separately announced they were going to require their passengers to wear masks.
Low-cost carrier Ryanair has challenged Germany’s 9 billion euro rescue package for Lufthansa on Tuesday, saying it distorted competition, while the German carrier moves towards finalzing the deal next month.
Delta's June schedule, while significantly reduced in comparison to last year, sees the return of several domestic and international routes, which were previously suspended due to the pandemic.
