Aeromexico has announced low fares to Mexico City, with one-way fares starting at $159 from any destination covered by Aeromexico in the U.S. Aeromexico flies to more than 36 destinations in Mexico plus 12 of the principal capitals in the United States, as well as to major cities in Europe, Asia and Canada

British Airways will begin offering Trinidadians a daily service to the United Kingdom via St Lucia from March 30 – an increase from the current five weekly schedule. “I am extremely delighted with the increased services as this will give our customers greater opportunities to connect with friends and family, make business connections or just explore and experience the vibrant city of London as a leisure traveler,” said Marcelle Joseph, district manager Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia.

Northwest Florida’s beleaguered Emerald Coast leisure destinations, still reeling from last year’s Gulf oil spill, look set to get a lift this spring with a major expansion of low-fare air service in and out of the Fort Walton Beach/Destin area by Vision Airlines.

KLM is offering a special $301 one-way fare between Miami and Amsterdam for departures between March 21 –its inaugural flight- and April 17.

Tickets must be purchased by March 1. The new nonstop flights, operating four times a week, operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Next winter, Lufthansa will introduce nonstop service from Frankfurt to Rio de Janeiro. Flights will be five times a week. Lufthansa served Rio from 1956 until 2005.

Thanks to the strong economic growth in the region in recent years, it is reinstating the service. Introductory fares start at 749 euros.

The Air Transport Association of America (ATA) reported that passenger revenue, based on a sample group of carriers, rose 10 percent in January 2011 compared to the same month in 2010, marking the 13th consecutive month of revenue growth. Miles flown by paying passengers rose 2.5 percent while the average price to fly one mile rose 7.2 percent.
