The St. Kitts Tourism Authority has announced that British Airways will be commencing a new direct flight from London Gatwick Airport to St. Kitts, marking the first time the airline will offer service to this Caribbean island. The flight will operate once a week on Saturdays, beginning on January 10, 2009.
JetBlue is postponing the opening of its new terminal at New York’s Kennedy Airport until Oct. 22. The airline originally was scheduled to open the new facility in Terminal 5 on Oct. 1. JetBlue currently operates in Terminal 6.
Two of Russia’s major airlines will increase from two to five their nonstop weekly flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg, starting in winter and spring, which aims to increase flow of Russian tourists to Dominican Republic by more than 100 percent.

Starting October 17, TAM will begin to offer its new daily flight service to Lima, Peru. The flight will depart from Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo en route to Jorge Chavez International Airport in Peru’s capital.
United Airlines has decided to double its fee for a second checked bag on a domestic flight from $25 to $50 one-way. The airline estimated that the $50 fee would apply to about one out of seven customers. First- and business-class customers and United’s frequent fliers don’t have to pay the new charge.
