American Airlines is adding two new direct flights out of Miami and New York to St. Maarten in the Caribbean. Flights from Miami are scheduled to start in November, leaving Miami International Airport at 5:15pm to arrive in St. Maarten at 9:10pm.

Lufthansa posted a rise in passenger numbers in the first six months of 2008. More than 28 million flew with Lufthansa in the period from January through June, an increase of 5.4 percent on the year-earlier level.

In June 2008, a total of 2,704,655 passengers traveled on Air Berlin (06/2007: 2,706,088 passengers). At 80.9 percent, fleet capacity utilization was 0.7 percentage points higher than in the corresponding month of the previous year (06/2007: 80.2 percent).

Vueling Airlines’ Board of Directors has approved the memorandum of understanding in relation to Vueling and Clickair’s integration. Its intention is to define the emerging Society’s operational structure and main milestones, as well as some of the obligations for the implicated parties: Vueling Airlines, Clickair, Inversiones Hemisferio, Iberia, and Nefinsa, the latter three on their condition of both companies’ main shareholders.
