A walkout by 38 of Air Jamaica’s 300 flight attendants yesterday forced the cancellation of several flights from Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Toronto to Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG posted record figures for profit and revenue in 2007 for the second year in a row. The Group profit after taxes was 1.7 billion euros; more than double that of the previous year. Revenue during the last year increased by 13 percent to 22.4 billion euros. The operating profit also climbed to a new record peak at 1.4 billion euros, which was equivalent to a rise of 63.1 percent.

Iberia has signed two exclusive contracts with Olympic Airways under which it will maintain engines and components for the Greek airline at Iberia’s installations in Madrid.
U.S. airlines set an annual record by carrying 769.4 million scheduled domestic and international passengers on their systems in 2007, nearly 25 million more passengers or 3.3 percent more than they did in 2006 when the previous high was reached, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), reported in a release of preliminary data.
