Beginning on December 15, Delta Airlines will launch service from Atlanta to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, subject to government approval. Puerto Plata will be the fourth destination served by Delta in the Dominican Republic, including Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and Santiago de los Caballeros.
Since May 1, under a codeshare arrangement, Iberia is offering its customers direct flights between Madrid and Cancun. The flights will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. For this service 387-seat A330/300 airbus will be used for the flight of a little less that ten hours. It will take off from Madrid to ease connections with Iberia´s domestic and European flights.
Caribbean Star Airlines and Caribbean Sun Airlines and Sabre Airline Solutions have announced an agreement to create front-end access to both carriers´ reservations and airport check-in. The Sabre QIK Business Processing Solutions and the Sabre QIK Developer Tool will be used to design and implement a graphical user interface that helps make operations at Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun more cost effective by reducing user training expenses and increasing productivity. The QIK solutions will give Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun the ability to create highly customized user access to real-time host systems, databases, peripheral devices and other information sources through a highly flexible GUI, allowing the airline to maximize return on investment for its existing computing environment.

GOL, the Brazilian low-cost carrier, announced it has received authorization from the International Relations Department of the ANAC (National Agency of Civil Aviation) to operate regular flights to Santiago de Chile. With this go-ahead, the company will begin taking all necessary steps to operate on this new route.
U.S.-Venezuela air travelers can let out a collective sigh of relief. The U.S. government lifted its restrictions on Venezuelan airline service to the U.S. last April 21, which removes Venezuela´s threat to severely restrict U.S. airline service to its country. The decision not only preserves the services U.S.-Venezuela travelers now use, but also could offer them more options. Some Venezuelan carriers reportedly have been preparing to increase their services to the U.S. once the restrictions were lifted.
