
Redjet, a new Barbados-based airline, won’t be able to launch U.S. service until Barbados is in compliance with standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization. Earlier this week, the Federal Aviation Administration said that Barbados falls short of ICAO standards.

Companies are consolidating their business travel in Latin America as corporate traffic to the region increases exponentially, according to Hogg Robinson Group (HRG), the world class corporate travel services company. In order to meet this growing demand, HRG has also appointed two new Partners in Bolivia and Panama. Business travel is growing in Latin America as its emerging economies thrive.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Italy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening political, scientific and technical relationships and promoting development co-operation partnership between the two parties.

Morgans Hotel Group Co. (MHGC) said it has entered into an agreement to sell the Royalton and Morgans hotels in New York City for $140 million to an affiliate of FelCor Lodging Trust, Incorporated. MHGC will continue to operate the hotels under a 15-year management agreement with one 10-year extension option. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter and is subject to customary closing conditions.

According to Perspectives on Tourism, a survey produced by credit card company Visa, the average amount of money spent in Mexico by foreign visitors increased by 12 percent last year, compared with 2009.
