Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. recorded $70.8 million in net income for the fourth quarter of 2007, a 51.9 percent increase over its fourth-quarter earnings in 2006. Revenues were better than expected, RCCL said; it posted $1.5 billion in the fourth quarter.
STARS, an organization for professional travel agents, will debut in February, founded by Billie and Peter Stilphen, who is CEO of Coral Sands Travel and served as president of PATH. STARS wants to “separate the highly professional travel professional from the many would-be and pseudo travel agents.”

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. reported EPS from continuing operations for the fourth quarter of 2007 of $0.74 compared to $0.94 in the fourth quarter of 2006. Excluding special items, EPS from continuing operations was $0.79 for the fourth quarter of 2007 compared to $0.92 in the fourth quarter of 2006.
Delta didn’t say much about its assumed merger talks Jan. 23 as it reported a fourth quarter loss of $70 million and a $418 million profit for all of 2007 when excluding reorganization items.
IATA will reduce its prices on agent ID cards in Canada by 16 percent to 25 percent, depending on the card, effective March 1.
