This is the same cathedral that in 1882 was renamed as Lesser Basilica and was consequently declared a National Monument back in 1958. The place harbors the Monsignor Enrique Perez Serantes Archdiocesan Museum, the only one devoted to religious art on the island nation.
The oldest village of Cuba, our present Santiago de Cuba City, has a beautiful history related to our national flag. That standard was first seen in October 1868 at the highest peak of Bayamo’s Port -in Sierra de Boniato, near the place that is currently known as El Castillito.
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism -Mitur- with the collaboration of the Dominican Embassy in Berlin, organized a collective show entitled “Dominican Art Today” at the Freies Museum Berlin. The opening ceremony was held on October 9, with a cocktail party offered by Rafael Calventi, a Dominican diplomat.
A dozen people reported serious health problems or injuries on Disney World rides during the third quarter of 2014, while two such incidents were reported at Universal Orlando and one at SeaWorld.
The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) was launched in October 2013 and has raised well over $1.7 million dollars. This was made possible by an outpouring of support by several hotels and visitors to the island.
