Non-communicable diseases, the leading cause of death and disability worldwide and a predicted $47 trillion cost to the global economy in the next 20 years, is the target of a new partnership designed to confront and reduce their long-term health consequences, the Medical Tourism Association® and the Organization of American States announced today.
The Grenada Tourism Authority has appointed Margit Schwarz of Discover the World Marketing GmbH as sales representative and focal marketing point in Germany. This appointment supports the imminent return of Condor’s direct flights from Frankfurt, Germany, to Grenada in November 2014. Schwarz has represented Grenada before in the German market and is familiar with Grenada’s tourism product and the travel trade in Germany.
Sandals Resorts International has named Andre Dhanpaul its new regional director for the Eastern Caribbean, the company announced. Dhanpaul has been serving in the post since July 1.
Beyond its beaches and cultural projects, Santiago de Cuba opened the doors to its heritage with lots of history-related offers for national and international visitors to enjoy. When Cuban lauded writer Alejo Carpentier suddenly passed away in his apartment in Paris, on April 24, 1980, he left on his desk the first pages of what would be his next novel: A True Story, based on the life of Pablo Lafargue. His typewriter was surrounded by books and documents related to the main character of Alejo’s future novel.
