UNWTO has launched a new global initiative designed to unite and encourage nations, tourism sector leaders and consumers to be more open-minded when choosing a travel destination.
“We believe the Caribbean should lead, and not follow, on investing in a healthy, sustainable, and productive future for the prosperity of our people and our planet,” declared Dona Regis-Prosper, the newly appointed Secretary-General and CEO of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, met with his Canadian counterpart, Soraya Martinez, with whom he discussed concrete plans to strengthen tourism relations between the Dominican Republic and Canada.
In what is set to be the biggest celebration to date, the official celebrations will be held of 27 September in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Every September 27, the world comes together to celebrate World Tourism Day, a date that gives us an opportunity to reflect on the positive impact this industry has on our lives and the global economy. 
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) and its environmental arm, the Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism (CAST), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund.
