Technology and social media are becoming critically important tools for successful international tourism. This has been recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the Minister of Tourism in Costa Rica, who organized a Technical Seminar on Tourism and New Technologies.

Caricom heads of government must do more and act together to tackle some of the structural issues that face the development of the industry. That was the message delivered by World Travel & Tourism Council president David Scowsill to the annual Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit in Miami.

World Travel & Tourism Council president David Scowsill has praised many of the developments that have taken place in Latin America in recent years and called on the region’s tourism leaders to maintain the momentum. Speaking at the Hotel Opportunities Latin America conference in Miami, Scowsill singled out the aviation developments in the region.

Trinidad and Tobago has become UNWTO’s 156th Member State as the country rejoins the Organization after 35 years. The announcement was made by the Secretary General, Taleb Rifai, at the opening of the 55th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for the Americas in San Jose, Costa Rica.
