Peru should exceed this year its foreign tourist target of three million this year, stated the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Jose Luis Silva, while stressing that American Airlines will operate seven non-stop flights between Houston and Lima.

Silva noted that by 2016, the government expects over 3,600,000 foreign visitors arriving to Peru.

The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association and the Ministry of Tourism have launched a major energy efficiency program for hotels with support from the Inter-American Bank (IDB) and international partners. Hoteliers throughout the Bahamas attended the launch of the Caribbean Hotel Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Action-Advanced Program (CHENACT-AP).

Central America received a total of 11,133,666 visitors – 747,712 of those from European countries – during the period January to November 2012, according to preliminary data provided by the Ministries of Tourism of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

Representatives of the leading Regional and International Agencies engaged in Tourism development in the Greater Caribbean will convene for a historic one day meeting to explore avenues to enhance inter-agency collaboration for the promotion, growth and sustainability of the Regional Tourism Industry.
