The Dominican Republic is emerging as a strong property market prospect as Caribbean holiday bookings rise, a new report has stated. Investment firm Macleesipps has noted a report by Hayes and Jarvis has identified an 800 percent jump in such bookings in the country in the past year.

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association has applauded the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association for its lead in tourism research following the release of a new tourism research paper. The document, Travel & Tourism as a Driver of Economic Development in Jamaica, was conducted by Oxford Economics and presented by Adam Sacks, president Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics Company, at a news conference hosted by the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association.

Visitor arrivals in Jamaica totaled 3.07 million in 2011, an 8.4 percent increase over 2010 figures and an all-time record for the Caribbean nation, according to the December 2011 Monthly Statistical Report published by the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).
