The Costa Rican government is aiming to develop a quiet stretch of its Caribbean coast into a tourism Mecca with the biggest investment of its kind in the country's history. The province of Limon, on the country's Caribbean coast, is made up of virgin rainforests and white-sand beaches.

Brazil posted record visitor arrival numbers for October 2011, with 799,763 visitors for the month, a 10 percent increase over the 726,584 arrivals recorded during the same period in 2010, according to statistics from Embratur, the country’s tourism board.
