Discover the World has announced a significant expansion of its relationship with South African Airways (SAA). Under a new agreement effective April 1, 2024, Discover the World will represent SAA in key European markets including the Nordics (Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark), France, Spain, Switzerland, and Italy. This expansion builds on a long-standing partnership, where Discover the World already represents SAA in the USA, Canada, UK, and Germany.

Aiden Walsh, Head of Airline Development at Discover the World, expressed his enthusiasm about the new agreement, stating, "It is an honor to be selected to represent South African Airways in the Nordics, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Italy. This reflects our successful representation of SAA in other major markets. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship with South African Airways."

SAA's Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Tebogo Tsimane, highlighted the importance of this partnership for the airline's international strategy and business recovery. "SAA is pleased to accommodate our valued customers from North America once again. This partnership will enable Discover the World to sell passenger and cargo space on behalf of SAA. We look forward to welcoming customers to experience the warm South African hospitality we are celebrated for."

Tsimane further emphasized the strategic importance of the European markets for SAA. "European markets are crucial for SAA as they play a significant role in our international strategy and overall business recovery plan. We are carefully considering our route network to optimize connectivity. These markets are vital due to their significant contribution to tourism and business travel, which are essential for our operations and sustainability."

With a proud legacy of 90 years, South African Airways (SAA) serves as the national carrier of South Africa, connecting domestic, regional, and international destinations. SAA's extensive network includes flights from Johannesburg to Abidjan, Accra, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Harare, Lusaka, Lagos, Mauritius, Sao Paulo, Windhoek, Victoria Falls, and recently reintroduced services to Perth, Australia.

Since its inception in 1934, SAA has expanded to include passenger airline services, cargo transport, and various ancillary services provided through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, SAA Technical (SAAT) and Air Chefs. SAAT offers high-quality maintenance services, major airframe checks, engine overhauls, mechanical components, avionics, and line maintenance to SAA and third-party clients. Air Chefs delivers in-flight catering, airline lounge services, and other catering solutions.

This partnership marks a significant step for SAA as it continues to recover and expand its global footprint, leveraging Discover the World's extensive market reach and expertise. The collaboration aims to enhance SAA's visibility and accessibility in key European markets, driving growth and sustainability for the airline.
