Beginning June 10, Azul Linhas Aéreas will launch a new direct route between Recife and Madrid, operating three weekly flights on aircraft with a capacity for 267 passengers. This marks the airline's first-ever direct connection to the Spanish capital—renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and world-class gastronomy.

By the end of 2025, Azul will offer 176 flights (round-trip) on this new route, strengthening its position in Europe and further developing its third-largest hub in Recife.

Departures from Recife will take place on Tuesdays (7:10 PM), Thursdays (7:20 PM), and Sundays (7:10 PM). Return flights from Madrid will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Mondays at 10:35 AM (Fridays at 10:40 AM).

Recife was selected as the base for this new route due to its role as Azul’s main hub in the Northeast. Guararapes International Airport currently operates 46 domestic and international routes. In 2024 alone, it recorded over 29,000 takeoffs and offered 3.8 million seats. In Q1 2025, Azul transported 787,655 customers through the Northeast hub.

The new Recife–Madrid service joins Azul’s growing portfolio of international destinations from the capital of Pernambuco, including:

  • Orlando, USA – 2 weekly flights

  • Montevideo, Uruguay – 2 weekly flights

  • Porto, Portugal – 2 weekly flights

  • Asunción, Paraguay – seasonal route starting in July, with 2 weekly flights
