Caribbean Airlines has announced that it will cancel all flights from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica, starting November 2, 2025. The routes were reinstated earlier this year but reportedly underperformed, prompting this strategic cut.

Passengers with bookings after November 1 will receive refunds or travel credits, as the airline reallocates aircraft and crew to more profitable routes. The move reflects challenges in maintaining routes with weaker demand.

This reduction in direct connectivity could affect Jamaican tourism, especially U.S. visitors who prefer nonstop or short-connection options. Fewer routes often mean higher costs and less convenience.

Jamaican tourism stakeholders expressed concern, noting that the flight reductions might impact hotel occupancy, excursions, and ancillary services that depend on steady arrivals.

Analysts say this is part of broader airline route rationalization, driven by high fuel costs, rising operational expenses, and changing traveler behavior.

For travelers planning visits to Jamaica, the advice is to check current flight schedules and consider alternatives or connections ahead of booking.
