Copa Airlines has inaugurated its new route to and from San Diego, California, marking a strategic expansion of the airline’s presence on the U.S. West Coast. Operating with four weekly frequencies—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—the new service strengthens Copa’s role as a vital connector between Latin America and Southern California via the Hub of the Americas® in Panama City.

“This new destination not only expands the geographic reach of our operations but also reinforces our role as a bridge between Latin America and strategic regions of the continent,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines. He emphasized that the route responds to growing demand for business, academic, and leisure travel, while also promoting the Panama Stopover program, which invites passengers to explore Panama as part of their journey.

Flight CM847 departs Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport at 1:16 p.m. and arrives at San Diego International Airport at 5:54 p.m. local time. The return flight, CM850, leaves San Diego at 9:06 p.m. and arrives in Panama City the next morning at 5:20 a.m.

San Diego, located in Southern California, is a major tourism and business hub, famous for its beaches, cultural attractions, and mild climate. Popular highlights include Coronado Beach, La Jolla Cove, the San Diego Zoo, and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.

With this addition, Copa Airlines now operates an average of 375 daily flights, connecting more than 80 cities in 32 countries throughout North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean, all via its Panama hub. The new route underscores the airline’s commitment to offering seamless, efficient travel options across the Americas.
