TAP Air Portugal has unveiled plans for two new direct flights to the U.S., starting in May 2025. The airline will connect Lisbon with Los Angeles and Porto with Boston, further strengthening its transatlantic network.
The Lisbon-Los Angeles route begins on May 16, 2025, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Starting May 26, a fourth flight on Saturdays will be added through October 25. This route will utilize Airbus A330-900 aircraft, accommodating up to 298 passengers.
Meanwhile, flights between Porto and Boston will commence on May 14, 2025, with service four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays until October 25. The route will be operated by the Airbus A321-Long Range, with capacity for 168 passengers.
TAP is also adding a unique stopover option. Starting June 3, 2025, one of its weekly Lisbon-San Francisco flights will make a stop in Terceira, Azores, offering a direct link between the Azores and California. This move aims to better serve the significant Azorean community in the U.S.
Currently, TAP serves seven U.S. cities from Lisbon, including New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Washington, San Francisco, and Chicago. From Porto, the airline flies to Newark, and the new Boston route marks an expansion of its offerings from northern Portugal.
