DATE Gets Underway in the Dominican Republic
From March 26 to 28, the Dominican Republic holds its Annual Tourism Exchange Fair, DATE (Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange), in its 20th edition. The event will take place at the Blue Mall Punta Cana.
Underscoring the charms of the Central American country, among which are the beautiful beaches, a perfect climate the whole year, and impressive natural landscapes is the main objective of the meeting organized since 1999 by the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores).
The meeting is attended by hoteliers and other local providers of tourism services, as well as tour operators, travel agents, airline representatives, and other professionals from the sector that get a chance to showcase their proposals in this scenario.
In recent statements to the Dominican press, Paola Rainieri de Díaz, president of Asonahores explained that “DATE ??has contributed to the sustained increase in the country's tourism activity.”
This fair has been a very important factor to achieve an average annual growth of more than 6% over the past ten years, higher than the average regional and global growth, he added.
According to Rainieri, in two decades the Dominican Republic has received more than 44 million international tourists and the fair is one of Asonahores’ major contributions to this achievement.
