Fiesta del Fuego Gets Underway in Santiago de Cuba

The 39th edition of Fiesta del Fuego (Fire Party) is underway in the city of Santiago de Cuba. The historic Heredia Cultural Center was swarmed over by hundreds of people who attend this year’s Caribbean festival dedicated to the Republic of Uruguay.

Following the opening remarks by Orlando Verges, head of the Casa del Caribe, the keynote speech was delivered by the Honorable Eduardo Lorier, ambassador of Uruguay to Cuba.

Later in the opening gala, attendees and organizers paid tribute to Eduardo “Tiburon” Morales, an exceptional vocalist from the city of Santiago Cuba. The function came to a close with a two-hour show made up of top-rated local performers.
