MITM Panama Summit - Meetings & Culture Travel Market Underway

MITM Panama Summit - Meetings & Culture Travel Market kicked off Wednesday, October 19 with a fabulous welcome reception at the recently inaugurated Gran Evenia Panama hotel. The event will be held at the Las Americas Golden Tower Panama hotel.

The summit is geared towards high-end MICE and Cultural tourism, and 30 international buyers - executives with high business potential - have been selected from among more than 200 registered companies from 31 countries, specializing in incentives, events and congresses, international associations, corporations, tour operators and luxury agencies.

The event will be attended by 80 participants, who will have the opportunity to establish business alliances during two intense days of work. Around one thousand business appointments will be made, complemented by an exceptional networking program, generating an estimated economic impact in the medium and long term of more than US$150 million.

The welcome reception took place yesterday at the newly opened Gran Evenia Panama with the participation of Ivan Eskildsen, Panama's Minister of Tourism; Eugenia Powell, associate director of Sales and Services of PROMTUR Panama; Toni Perez, corporate MICE manager of Evenia Hotels, and Charo Trabado, CEO of MITM Events. 

During the reception, Charo Trabado assured that "it is a satisfaction to return to Panama 10 years after having held MITM Americas, the first MICE fair organized in Panama, and to experience the great development in both infrastructure and know-how of the country in recent years. Panama is establishing itself as a MICE destination of excellence worldwide".

For her part, Eugenia Powell, from PROMTUR Panama, thanked those present for attending this edition of MITM Panama and assured that they will have the opportunity to show them all the facilities and the wide offer that Panama has for meetings and group tourism.

"We have no doubt that Panama has many competencies and is the ideal place for you to organize your next events. Panama is the business capital of the Americas and with only 30,000 square miles it is the only destination where you can see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in the same day," said Mrs. Powell by way of a general welcome.

Ivan Eskildsen, Panama's Minister of Tourism, gave a brief historical review of the country with details that explain in themselves the reasons that have made Panama one of the favorite destinations for any type of tourism, but specifically for the celebration of meetings and events.

The closing dinner, which will take place on October 20 at one of the city's most iconic MICE hotels, the Panama by Faranda Grand, a member of Radisson Individuals, will be supported and attended by Mr. Fernando Fondevila, CEO of PROMTUR, Mr. Jaime Campuzano, general manager of the Hotel El Panama by Faranda Grand, and Kenelma Mendoza, president of APPCE.
