Over 600 Companies Registered for the 23rd MITM Americas

Charo Trabado, CEO of MITM Events, tells us that over 600 companies from 65 countries have registered to participate from the 14th to the 17th of October in the 23 MITM Americas that will be held in Havana. Worldwide pioneer trade show in MICE tourism, that will take place for its second consecutive year in the Cuban capital.

What is the secret to MITM´s success?

We are the worldwide pioneers in the organization of MICE B2B trade shows and we remain true to our "MITM System", the most emulated in all MICE tradeshows. Most trade shows allow professional visitors, have an overflow of exhibitors and "isle sellers" and a severe lack of buyers, and they still claim to be a B2B trade show.

Some 50 trade shows, held in 37 cities in 18 countries, throughout the last 23 years, precede us. We are a genuine MICE B2B trade show, in which the number of buyers always exceeds that of exhibitors and appointments are pre-established. This system allows us to stay true to our motto “quality-oriented trade shows”. We work to ensure all attending buyers are decision makers with high business potential and that all suppliers offer quality products.

MITM Americas has been held in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba… How have you helped destinations concentrate and invest in the MICE segment?

We are preceded by success stories such as the one with Mexico, where after our trade shows in the years 2000 and 2002 the recently closed CPTM (Consejo de Promoción Turística) created an official department to promote MICE tourism; or Ecuador, that partly thanks to our trade shows in 2006, 2010 and 2011 managed to be reach the TOP 10 in destinations to visit according to the UNWTO. Same thing with El Salvador, Panama, Cuba…

The value of our promotion to the destination exceeds one million euros and the ROI achieved by our clients make it so destinations like Cuba want to host the event consecutively, as is the case on this 23 edition that will be held in the Hotel Nacional, coinciding with the 500th anniversary of the Cuban capital.

This is the second consecutive edition held in Cuba, right?

Yes, our first edition in the island took place in Varadero, in 2004; and since then we have returned in 2009, in 2018 as well as this year. We are specially looking forward to being in Havana this 2019, coinciding with the celebration of 500-year anniversary of the city.

In this edition, over 600 companies from 65 countries have registered. Of which, only the 100 companies with the highest business potential have been selected.

What does Cuba offer, and in particular Havana, to the MICE sector?

The main attractive that the island offers is that it’s a relatively new destination. MICE Tourism requires a lot of variety in its offer, and lesser known destinations are the ones that attract the most attention. Furthermore, the MICE sector needs new infrastructures and is always on the lookout for a destination with a unique and emotional touch. Cuba allows to seamless weave work and networking.
