Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila announced that the United States government has revoked her tourist visa, as well as that of her husband, Carlos Torres.

In a post on social media platform X, Ávila did not disclose the reason behind the revocation but expressed confidence that "the situation will be resolved satisfactorily."

Carlos Torres, for his part, said he has hired an immigration law expert to “reopen or appeal the decision, or initiate a new visa application process.” He emphasized that the situation “does not involve any formal accusation, investigation, or charges from authorities in either Mexico or the United States.”

The U.S. Embassy declined to comment on the case, citing the confidential nature of visa records and stating it cannot provide information on individual applications.

Baja California shares a border with the U.S. state of California.
