Africa Travel Association to Hold Presidential Forum on Tourism

Africa Travel Association will hold its Fifth Annual Presidential Forum on Tourism, Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., in which it will gather African leaders at New York University to discuss tourism as an economic engine of growth and development. The event will be part of the NYU-Africa House Conference of African Leaders on the occasion of the UN General Assembly meetings.
ATA’s highest profile event in the U.S. offers Africa’s leaders an opportunity to speak about how tourism contributes to a country’s economy and development and to highlight the current challenges and future prospects each country faces in promoting the sector. The event will be held at Kimmel Center for University Life, New York University, 60 Washington Square South (Between LaGuardia Place & Thompson Street), New York, New York, 10012.
ATA organized the first forum in 2006 with the Tanzanian and Nigerian presidents. Last year, ambassadors from Namibia, Tanzania, and Zambia, and ministers from Cameroon, Malawi, Mozambique, Zanzibar, as well as World Bank vice president of the Africa Region participated.
With its mission of strengthening partnerships between African nations and the global travel trade industry, the forum is an opportunity for leaders, who are attending United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, to put travel and tourism at the forefront of the international community’s agenda and on the industry’s event calendar.
