Amadeus, Travelport Report Positive Financial Results

Amadeus IT Holding S.A. and Travelport Worldwide released financial results for the first nine months of 2014 on Thursday, including third quarter results. Both companies reported positive results in several key performance metrics.
Year-to-date revenue for Amadeus increased by 9.4 percent to €2,585.0 million. Excluding the acquisitions of Newmarket International, UFIS Airport Solutions, and i:FAO Aktiengesellschaft, comparable growth stood at 6.8 percent.
EBITDA for Amadeus increased 9.3 percent during the same period to €1,037.5 million. Excluding acquisitions, comparable growth registered at 7 percent.
In the third quarter, distribution revenue increased 4.2 percent to €1,861.5 million for Amadeus, bolstered by a 6.1 percent jump in air travel agency bookings (air travel agency bookings have climbed 4.5 percent to 356.2 million for the first nine months of 2014, year-over-year).
Amadeus IT Solutions revenue increased by 21.2 percent to €723.5 million in the third quarter, while passengers boarded jumped 14.1 percent, compared to the third quarter of 2013. This was aided by the implementation of several airlines this year, as well as carriers such as Asiana, Thai Airways, and Sri Lankan Airlines in 2013. Amadeus estimates passengers boarded will increase from 519.7 million now to about one billion by 2017.
Travelport also saw growth in several key areas.
Travelport reported net revenue growth of 3 percent for both the first nine months of 2014 and the third quarter of 2014, compared to the same periods in 2013. Adjusted EBITDA rose 5 percent year-to-date, including a jump of 4 percent in the third quarter.
Travelport’s “Beyond Air”—or non-air—revenue grew 14 percent in the third quarter, compared to the same period last year. This was helped by significant growth in the hospitality and payments sectors.
Travelport expects Adjusted EBITDA to increase from $430 million now to $538 million to $540 million by the end of 2014.
