A flight from Detroit to Philadelphia was cancelled this morning after a copilot failed a breathalyzer test, an airport police spokesman told ABC News.

The American Airlines co-pilot was arrested after failing the test, ABC reported. He was given a second test, but the blood alcohol content was not released, Michael Conway, director of Public Affairs at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport told ABC. He did, however, say it was over the limit for a pilot, which is 0.04 percent or greater.

The co-pilot’s name was not released, but Conway told ABC that he was from Pennsylvania and was born in 1965.

"This is a serious matter, and we are assisting local law enforcement and the Federal Aviation Administration with the investigation,” American Airlines said in a statement obtained by ABC. “We will handle this matter appropriately as the safety and care of our customers and employees is our highest priority."
