Artex’s Bis Music Label Launches Pablo Milanes Collection
His fans acclaimed, on February 24 at Alicia Alonso Havana Grand Theater’s Opera Hall, the rollout of La Colección de Pablo Milanés (Pablo Milanés’ Collection), a Cuban musician, singer and songwriter, founder of the New Trova Movement and icon of the Iberian American song realm.
Made up of 50 titles that have been put in chronological order, from the very first one, “Versos de José Martí”, recorded as far back as 1974, to “50 de 22” DVD, produced in 2015, the offer engulfs 53 albums and five DVDs that total over seven hours of video. The public will have the opportunity to enjoy not only 600 songs, but also a comprehensive visual and bibliographic testimony. The product includes photos, data, lyrics, musicians that have collaborated in each production, as well as the original covers of each album.
Moreover, the project is complemented by a printed guidebook that begins with words written by songwriter and singer Marta Valdes, who was inspired by the author of Yolanda and invites us to recall feelings, ages and unforgettable moments by means of Pablo’s songs and his pleasant voice, which have moved several generations of Cuban people.
This star was surprised to see La Colección in public, said that it was very exciting and praised the beauty of the packing and presentation, a work that not only comprises 50 years of his artistic life, but also the hours and work of many people that passionately and professionally devoted their efforts to make a dream come true.
The rollout of the anthology, which pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of this creator’s artistic career, author of El breve espacio en que no estás, and coincided with his 74th birthday, is the outcome of team work, the collaboration of PM Record, Pablo Milanés’ artistic office, Artex, Lauros Market Division and Bis Music, the record label in charge of its promotion and marketing in Cuba.
With inestimable musical, artistic and esthetic value, La colección de Pablo Milanés, as a whole product or individual albums, can be acquired by the public at Artex’s specialized stores, such as Habana Sí (23 y L, Vedado, Havana), Jose Marti International Airport’s Duty Free, Havana, Artehabana, San Rafael Boulevard, Old Havana, Artex’s store in Plaza América, Varadero, Matanzas, Trinidad’s Casa de la Trova in Sancti Spíritus, starting on the first half of March 2017.
