Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Reports 5 Million Visitors in 2010

The Bahamas welcomed its 5 millionth arrival for 2010, the second time in the country’s history it has achieved the record total, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The destination recorded 4,645,115 vacationer arrivals in 2009.

The visitor, Randy Holmes of Vancouver, British Colombia, was identified through a sweepstakes arranged as the Bahamas grew close to the record total. Arriving travelers at various ports of entry into the country were selected as candidates to be the lucky number, and candidates were placed in a random drawing.
