Belarus, Cuba to Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in Tourism

Belarus and Cuba will sign a memorandum of cooperation in tourism, according to information provided by Belarusian Minister of Sports and Tourism, Alexander Shamko.

“We expect to meet with the Minister of Tourism of Cuba and sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two countries,” Alexander Shamko said. According to the minister, Cuban tourism has been steadily developing and there is mutual interest between the two sides. “Cuba has been creating conditions of the world level. The number of our people visiting Cuba increases every year. Our task is to make this region even more open for tourists. For instance, it can be done through reducing ticket costs,” the minister noted.

Alexander Shamko also stated that this year Cuba has been visited by nearly 1,100 tourists from Belarus. He added that the sides are discussing the prospects of training Cuban students at the Institute of Tourism of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education.

Minister of Sports and Tourism Alexander Shamko and Presidential Aide in Physical Education, Sports and Tourism Development Maxim Ryzhenkov are leading a Belarusian delegation on an official visit to Cuba and taking part in an international tourism fair FITCUBA 2013 in Varadero on 7-11 May.
