British Traveler Shot Dead in Jamaican Taxi

A British woman travelling with her 7-year old daughter was shot dead in a Jamaican resort on Montego.
The women named Melanie Rose Clarke, clerical worker from Birmingham, was sitting in the front seat of the taxi while traveling from Mount Salem, a popular resort was staying with her relatives.
“Occupants of the taxi heard a loud bang and on arrival at the destination, Ms. Clarke was discovered to be dead and leaning against the driver,” the spokeswoman said. “They took her to hospital but she was already dead.”
The unidentified gunman fled after shooting, the man was traveling with Ms. Clarke. She was in Jamaica to attend a relatives wedding. When the taxi got to the Cornwall Regional Hospital gate, the man, who was in the back, paid the driver but did not get out. A loud bang was thought to have been a tire blowout and the driver continued.
After shooting, the man ran to the nearby bushes. The driver was unaware that Ms. Clarke had been shot until he came to the end of his route when she wasn’t getting out of the car.
