Caribbean-China Economic Forum Seen as Fruitful
The First Caribbean-China Economic & Trade Cooperation Forum, held in Jamaica´s Kingston, helped strengthen strategic ties between the two parties.
An agreement on bilateral economic and trade cooperation was inked during the event, and China renewed its pledge to collaborate in the development of small insular states in the Caribbean and outside its boundaries.
Most efforts will be focused on investment promotion and protection, agriculture cooperation, fishing, knowledge transfer, experience exchange, tourism advertisement, financial cooperation and other mutually beneficial aspects.
The Jamaica Forum was conducted under a Chinese initiative, an element that was highly praised in all speeches delivered by Caribbean representatives who called the gesture “an example of how international relations should actually be like.”
Attendants to the forum also agreed to hold a ministerial conference at least every four years or in any other period of time that both sides might see fit.
