CTO Mourns the Passing of Michael J. Youngman

Michael J. Youngman, 84, former director of marketing for the Caribbean Tourism Organization, died in New York City on Aug. 13.

During his tenure as CTO’s marketing head from 1991 to 2002, Youngman helped launch the organization’s regional marketing and advertising campaigns as well as the Caribbean Vacation Planner. He oversaw the expansion of CTO’s chapter system worldwide.

Youngman was involved early on with CTO, then called the Caribbean Tourism Association from the early 1970s until 1989, when it became the CTO.

Youngman was awarded CTO’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, given to those who made significant contributions to the region.

Prior to his career with CTO, Youngman served as director of marketing for American Airlines’ Atlantic and Caribbean regions.

After stepping down from CTO in 2002, he founded Michael J. Youngman & Associates, a consulting firm in New York City.
