Cuban Travel Group Gaviota Unveils New Products at FITCuba 2013

Frank Oltuski, marketing vice president of Cuban tourist group Gaviota, said 2013 is a starting point for GAVIOTA, a group created a quarter of a century ago.

Among the main projects in the works, Mr. Oltuski mentioned a modern marina and all the facilities for catering to vessels, with a modern hotel about to be completed for the 2013-2014 season.

“New panoramic buses and last-generation rental cars have also been added, and there are other projects linked to the attention for families for a better service and a better life. Using that wonderful marina effectively and commercializing our rooms in Varadero are just a part of our efforts,” he said.

Mr. Oltuski made his announcement at a presentation in the Plaza America Convention Center in Varadero, as part of International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2013.

Gaviota runs 11 four- or five-star hotels for a grand total of 7,200 guestrooms in Varadero. The latest opening is Ocean Varadero El Patriarca Hotel, penciled in as an example of good care and preservation of the environment.

During this fair, running through May 11, several presentations on investment opportunities have been made, besides the exhibit of sailing and diving products on the island.

The event, with Brazil as guest country, is attended by personalities, tourism authorities and stakeholders, tour operators, travel agencies and airline representatives.
