Dance in Cuba to the Beat of Salsa Rhythm

Cuba joins the list of countries that hold their carnival fiestas in February, with the celebration this time around, Feb. 25-28 in Havana’s Metropolitan Park, of the first edition of the Salsa Carnival, an initiative by Cuban musician Maykel Blanco, leader of Salsa Mayor, a band included in the catalog of Artex’s representation agency, Musicalia.

The salsa fiesta will be totally dedicated to Cuban music, even the DJs to come from such countries as France and Italy are going to mix salsa, son and other traditional rhythms of the Island, Mr. Blanco said in a press conference.

For both Cuban and foreign audiences, the program of the Salsa Carnivalcomprises masquerade parades, where the attendees can also dance, unlike the Havana carnival; dance lessons given by the professors of Artex’s cultural program, Baila en Cuba, for Cuban an foreign enthusiasts; performances by national and international DJs, small-format bands and, at night, the most prestigious bands of the country.

The carnival for children is going to be carried out on Sunday 28, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, with shows, games, special dance lessons, among other activities, free of charge.

Well-assorted gastronomic offers will be close at hand every day, both light food and restaurant food. Artex, Cuban Company of Artistic and Literary Promotions, EGREM Records and Musical Editions Company, and the Cuban Fund of Cultural Goods will be selling their products.
