FITCuba 2008 Ready to Showcase the Island Nation’s Tourism, Travel

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Morro-Cabaña Park will mark today the beginning of the 28th International Tourism Fair in Cuba (FITCuba 2008) that this time around will put culture-tourism integration in the limelight and will feature Italy as the guest country.

With longstanding experience in the sector, FITCuba 2008 will promote the products that destination Cuba has to offer. This will no doubt be the perfect setting to build on commercial ties dating back from the previous edition and as a result of visits paid to the outbound markets.

According to figures released by the Tourism Ministry, over 1,000 foreign experts are attending FITCuba. As to the international turnout, the largest amounts hail from Italy, UK, Mexico, Spain and Canada, in addition to 180 journalists from all of the island nation’s major outbound markets.

With this year’s edition focused on culture-tourism integration, the fair will pave the way for meetings with boldface names of the Cuban arts and the chance to enjoy artistic expressions from each and every region of the country.

The event’s schedule has equally reserved time slots for a classic music concert, a jazz jam session or the opportunity to dance to the beat of a son montuno in the purest eastern Cuba style.

Fair attendants will also visit city museums and others scattered all across Cuba since the business sessions have been laid out for two days to make room for a grand tour around Cuba’s north offshore keys –one of the most sought-after travel destinations the Caribbean country has to offer right now.
