Gastronomy Festival Wows FITCuba 2013 Attendees

One of the highlights of this year’s International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2013) in Varadero has undoubtedly been the Gastronomy Festival, a side event that in which one particular hotel chains displays its delicacies on a daily basis.

Islazul, a Cuba-based hotel company, had its turn yesterday as its chefs put on a show of today’s finest Cuban cuisine, something guests do not always taste at its best in hotels and lodgings where diversity is the name of game and food linked to the outbound markets are dished out in buffet and a-la-carte restaurants.

This time around, though, Islazul showcased fifteen traditional dishes and a broad menu consisting of pork meat, lamb, mutton, turkey, shellfish, root vegetables, cereals, rice, bread and homemade pastries.

Islazul’s presentation underscored the interest on the part of the local hotel companies and Cuba’s tourism authorities to put traditional food on the table and serve the very best Cuban cuisine money can buy –something foreign visitors would really appreciate.
