Georgia “Hunger Games” Theme Park May Be in the Works
Lions Gate Entertainment company already announced in April that it would be opening a park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates themed after the popular movie series. Now, the Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting that a location in Bartow County, Georgia, could be the site of an American version.
The report surfaced when a source told the Atlanta Business Chronicle that a company called Avatron USA Development was going to be building a “technology-focused theme park” on a 700-acre site outside Atlanta that could ultimately become the ‘Hunger Games’ park.
The excitement surrounding a potential "Hunger Games" destination is also on the rise thanks to the anticipated release of “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” on Nov. 20.
In a report from Dave McNary of Variety.com in 2013, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed that his company had been approached by theme parks in two territories.
As for the planned "Hunger Games" amusement park in Dubai, work should be completed and the facility is slated to be open to the public by 2016.
