Habano Festival’s 20th Edition Off to a Great Start
Enthusiasts of the finest cigars on the face of earth will gather Monday through Friday in Havana within the framework of the 20th Habano Festival, which has put together over 2,000 attendees from some 70 countries.
The utmost annual event on premium cigars puts on the table a well-assorted agenda focused on the knowledge and enjoyment of Habanos and other exclusive products, with the leading role being played by Romeo y Julieta Grand Churchills Humidor, with a brand-new vitola that has been exclusively made for this twentieth anniversary.
During a press conference chaired by Habanos S.A. executives Alejandro Fernandez Blanco, Deputy Director of Operational Marketing; Leopoldo Cintra González, Commercial Vice-president, and Jose Maria Lopez, Development Vice President, they unveiled the main launches for this year’s edition: Cohiba’s Reserva Cosecha 2014 with Robustos factory vitola; Partagás with its Línea Maduro and two new vitolas: Maduro No. 2 and Maduro No. 3; Hoyo de Monterrey with Le Hoyo Río Seco vitola and Vegueros with its Centrofinos.
The list of new products also includes Ediciones Limitadas 2018: Romeo y Julieta Tacos, Bolívar Soberano and H. Upmann Propios; as well as two new stars for La Casa del Habano specialized store network: Hoyo de Monterrey Escogidos and San Cristóbal de La Habana.
Over 180 exhibitors are participating in this year’s Festival, coming from Italy, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Brazil, China, Panama, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Bolivia and Cuba, so this event stands out for its largest international turnout if compared to previous editions, according to Cintra Gonzalez, who also announced the nominees for the Habanos Awards in different categories.
According to figures provided by the Habanos Group, the executive said, revenues reported back in 2017 went up to $500 million, up 12 percent from 2016, while the top markets are Spain, France, China, Germany and Cuba.
