Habanos Moments Swept Attendees off Their Feet

A significant moment within the 16th Habano Festival was no doubt the Habano Moments, in which delegates could pair a cigar of great character, like the Punch Double Coronas, with renowned spirits, beers and even chocolates.

That was the case of Bodegas Torres and Cuba Ron S.A. that hinted at a match between the abovementioned vitola and a couple of distilled heavyweights: Brandy Torres 15 and Isla del Tesoro –the new rum crafted by Cuban master rum makers.

Simultaneously, Inversiones Pucara (IPSA) tried its hand at a pairing between the Punch and a number of spirits, such as 10-Year Glenmorangie Whisky, Orujo de Hierbas de Galicia and Bols Chocolate 17 licorice, plus an array of chocolates from the Nestlé and Ritter brands.

The encounter of the Punch with 12-Year and 18-Year Chivas Regal, as well with the Old Fashion cocktail, was the formula offered by Havana Club International. In the meantime, CIMEX Corporation preferred to couple the Punch Double Coronas with its Varadero Supremo rum, the brand’s top-of-the-line entry.

Comercial Toledo S.A awed guests with its pairing of the Punch Double Coronas with the Heineken beer in an effort to bear out once again –despite some skeptics- that the warmth and strength of a premium cigar hit it off with the taste, scent and textures of icy suds.
