HostelCuba 2016 Opens in Havana
In an effort to strengthen the development of Cuba’s travel industry and make national and foreign companies build on further commercial ties, HostelCuba 2016 opened Tuesday during a ceremony held at the Pabexpo Fairgrounds in Havana.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was presided over by Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero, and also attended by Cuba’s Tourism vice ministers Alexis Trujillo and Mayra Álvarez García; Ricard Zapatero, director of FIRA Barcelona International; Orlando Hernández Guillén, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, and Abraham Maciques, director of Grupo Empresarial Palco.
As many as 108,000 guestrooms will be operations by 2030 in a bid to give the island nation’s travel industry more wiggle rooms in times when tourism demand on the country is hitting record highs.
HostelCuba is the first fair within a project that embraces two other fairs slated for this year -one on drinks and foods and another one on graphic arts- plus two more on safety and security -scheduled for next year- and the other one on renewable energy and transportation -to be announced.
