India’s Park Kolkata Unveils $9.8 Million Refurbishment

The Park Kolkata, a member of The Park Hotels collection of luxury boutique properties in India, has unveiled a new look following a $9.8 million refurbishment that resulted in a revamped lobby, reception space, dining areas and luxury premium suites. Conran & Partners were commissioned to revitalize the look of the first Park Hotel, the 149-room property situated on fashionable Park Street.

The Park Kolkata opened in 1967, the year that the Beatles came to India to learn transcendental meditation, and therefore the hotel design is consciously influenced by meditation and the Indian psychedelic aura of this period.

The Park Kolkata, a member of design hotels, embodies the essence of urban luxury at a thrilling downtown location. The property has made a name for itself in the city for its superior dining and nightlife including the all-day Atrium Café, Zen (an Asian specialty restaurant), Saffron (serving contemporary Indian cuisine), Someplace Else (a cocktail lounge), Tantra (a 5,000-square-foot international nightclub), Roxy (a ‘60s-inspired bar) and Aqua (an al fresco bar and dining space).

The Park Hotels features luxury boutique properties in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kerala, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi and Visakhapatnam. All hotels emphasize a fashionable and modern style in their public and private space. Five properties in The Park group are members of design hotels (Chennai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata). In addition to ever-evolving product and service innovations, The Park Hotels group focuses on relevant social issues (including the environment) and nurtures art and culture in each region.
