Israel to Host Bible and Love Festival

Taking place during Tu B’Av, “the Jewish Night of Love,” the Bible & Love Festival will feature performances by leading Israeli artists, Aug. 4 to 8 at the Beit Guvrin National Park in the Judean Hills south of Jerusalem.

The festival’s location in the city’s Roman Amphitheater and ancient caves will make for a one-of-a-kind experience and will include The Land of the Bible, a selection of songs written by Israeli composer Naomi Shemer and performed by the Beer Sheva Symphony Orchestra; Love and Jazz, a collaborative performance featuring live jazz, biblical texts and Israeli and international poetry; Leah, a classical musical piece based on the biblical figure Leah; Spanish Love, an intimate presentation of love songs from the Song of Songs performed by the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra; Ancient Voice, a collaborative performance by the ground-breaking Percussion Percadu duo and singer Lior Elmaliach; From Ashes to Ashes, the Birth of the Phoenix, The Vertigo Dance Group performs a special dance prayer; Hear My Voice, love songs originating in Jewish prayers performed by the Jerusalem Theatre Group and popular Israeli singers Shalom Hanoch and Shlomo Gronich presenting a compilation of love songs and prayers; and The Classic Bible, two choirs and three soloists perform works by classical composers inspired by biblical texts.

The Bible & Love Festival will also feature guided tours of the Yoav Region around the Beit Guvrin National Park in English and other languages.
