Jamaica Reports Record Winter Flights Schedule from U.S.

This winter Jamaica has more flights from the U.S. than ever before. With service from all major U.S. carriers and new service from JetBlue, AirTran and US Airways, travelers from across the U.S. will have added access to convenient flight options.

With seasonal charters and more daily flights, travelers have greater options when it comes to booking travel to Jamaica. According to John Lynch, director of tourism for Jamaica, “Our increased flights, growing hotel inventory and new attractions island-wide make Jamaica an appealing destination for visitors located across the U.S.”

According to Lynch, the island’s tourism has held its own with service from most airlines, including the island’s national carrier, Air Jamaica, along with all major U.S. carriers such as Delta, American Airlines, Continental, United, US Airways, JetBlue Airways, Spirit and Northwest.”

Travelers from the West Coast can take advantage of US Airways’ introductory nonstop service from Phoenix (PHX) to Montego Bay (MBJ) which begins Dec. 18. The service makes travel to Jamaica more accessible from 28 cities on the west coast with the ease and convenience of no more than one connection.

On Oct. 30, JetBlue Airways launched its service from New York (JFK) to Kingston (KIN), making this the airline’s second nonstop daily flight introduced to Jamaica this year. This past May, JetBlue Airways began service to Montego Bay (MBJ), which the airline noted was the most successful Caribbean launch in JetBlue’s history prompting the airline to add two new gateways to Jamaica: Boston (BOS) to Montego Bay (MBJ) on Jan. 9, and Orlando (MCO) to Montego Bay (MBJ) on Feb. 8.

AirTran Airways is also set to begin serving the island’s tourist capital, Montego Bay. New nonstop service departs from Atlanta, Baltimore and Orlando gateways to Montego Bay on Feb. 11. As is customary, Apple Vacations will again be operating winter seasonal charters departing from Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, St. Louis and Milwaukee. In addition, Funjet will also operate seasonal charters from St. Louis, Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
